The Platforms Code Application Certificate

How an entity obtains it

1. The entity applies to the Digital Government Authority.
2. The Authority assesses the platform against the Platforms Code criteria.
3. The certificate is granted where the criteria are met.
4. The entity displays the digital stamp at the top of its pages, linked to its certificate number.

Applications start from the Authority’s services listing. We link the services page rather than a direct application route because no official page for that route was found, and pointing an entity at a URL we have not verified is worse than pointing at the front door.

What the digital stamp signifies, and where it goes

The stamp is itself a criterion, not decoration. Criterion 11 governs it and carries three checkpoints: the stamp sits at the top of the page, its certificate number is correctly linked to the certificate’s own page, and at most two secondary elements — share buttons, accessibility tools — may sit beside it.

Position is part of the requirement, so a stamp in the footer fails the criterion even when its number is correct. Third-party commentary claiming the footer is the stamp’s place is wrong; the Figma file, both Authority workshops and the live certified examples all put it at the top.

Entities that hold the certificate

Both of the following announced their certification themselves, and each link goes to that announcement rather than to a list we compiled:

• The General Authority for Statistics
• The National Center for Events

This list is short because it is verified. Others hold the certificate; we name only the ones whose own announcement we have read.

What to do before applying

The Authority’s assessment is the reference, and it is not a formality. An entity that applies without first measuring its own platform is finding out its gaps in the slowest and most public way available. The practical sequence is to measure, remediate in the order that saves the most work, then apply.

Remediation order matters more than remediation effort. Adopting the component library first, then foundations — colour, typography, spacing — then components, then templates, fixes causes before effects. Working criterion 1 through criterion 56 in numerical order does the opposite and produces rework.
